Our veterinarians at Animal Medical Center use ultrasound equipment to get an inside look of what is happening in your pet’s internal system. An ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive tool that creates on-the-spot, three-dimensional images of your pet’s internal organs like their heart, kidneys, spleen and liver, among others. If your dog or cat is pregnant, an ultrasound can be used to visualize the heartbeats of the puppies and kittens, and to ensure that proper development is happening throughout your pet’s pregnancy.
Generally, ultrasounds do not require any form of sedation, unless a biopsy or internal tissue is needed for testing.
