Senior Cat Care

Good Senior Cat Care Begins with Regular Check-ups!

Once your cat reaches their golden years, it’s important to make sure that he or she receives frequent check-ups to monitor any early signs of illness. As your cat matures, physical changes may begin to occur that could affect their health. The key to ensuring that your senior cat has the healthiest and highest quality of life is to recognize and reduce factors that may be health risks. At AMC, our veterinarians recommend biannual exams for senior Cats to detect disease as early as possible, and to correct or delay the progression of various conditions and diseases.

Health Issues in Senior Cats

Cats age much more rapidly than people do. That’s why early diagnosis and treatment of these illnesses are critical to maintaining your pet’s quality of life. Dramatic changes in health can occur in as little as three to six months, so it’s important to monitor your cat for any changes in his or her health and routine. Please call us if you notice any of the following changes in your senior cat, which could indicate an underlying medical condition.

If you have any questions about your senior cat's health and behavior or to schedule an appointment, please call us at 205-758-7295.
